Landscape Photography Class at the Old New-Gate Prison Overlook

Saturday 25 May
Route 20 and Mountain Road - 10am - 3 Hours
Michael Bronfenbrenner
This class is for students who have working knowledge of their camera controls and settings, and who are experienced hikers. There is a one mile hike each way, with some inclines, --however the trail for the most part is relatively flat.

This is an awesome hike, with ample photographic opportunities for landscape photography with plenty of rocks, trees, forests and overlooks. Our target objective is the Old New-Gate Prison overlook, and the view from there is spectacular, on clear days you can see 15-20 miles. While at the overlook, we will focus on foreground/background landscape photography, panorama photography and how to best frame your landscape photographs.

Pioneering Colors with William Eggleston

Saturday 20 July
Main St, Northampton - 9am - 2 Hours
Thomas Young
It used to be that color photography was considered a gimmick, today it is the norm. The change in attitude towards color photography is in no small part thanks to the work of William Eggleston. Able to brilliantly capture small town American life, Eggleston had the ability to turn the mundane and simple into beautiful works of art. Through this class we will find images in the locations that would make most photographers turn their nose. Be ready to use color and shapes to find great works of art in the everyday.

Fantastic camouflage! My first jumping spider of 2024 was this adorable tiny Bronze jumping spider. I first saw it in the tall grass in my backyard, then it jumped onto this tree trunk (and explored there for a while). Canon EOS 7D Mark II, 100mm macro ISO 200, f10, 1/125

I had visited NYC to see a play with an old friend mine. We are both actors and had done a production of "Fiddler on the Roof" when we were MUCH younger, and had gone to see the Yiddish version. The following rainy day, I was to go home. It was one of the only times I've been in NYC in recent memory without my partner, so I took the opportunity to go on a street shooting crawl on my way to Grand Central Terminal. I randomly stopped in at Pete's Tavern to warm up and get a light bite to eat. This

This was the day of famous Northern Lights visible in most of the North America. Stubs Stewart is the most ideal dark area for star gazing so I reached there around 11pm. As expected, it was full of enthusiasts. The lights were predicted to be at peak between 10pm - 2am. Around 2pm, when we though the "show was over", the lights started getting incredibly bright, and that is when this picture was taken. Interestingly, the lights were bright in some regions and other regions were faded enough to

Last February, I left Sydney with my friends at 6pm to capture the first Milky Way view of 2024. I was very anxious because I saw a lot of clouds on the way, but I was really happy to see clear skies as I passed Newcastle. When we arrived at the lighthouse, fortunately we were the only ones in the group, so we were able to take photos without any disturbance. The lighthouse light, which was not too bright, was very helpful in filming.

I took this photo after work on the night of Friday 5-10-24. I was seeing posts about people seeing the northern lights as low as Oklahoma. I went home and grabbed my camera and equipment and went to Vancouver Lake not sure if I could capture anything. I was pleasantly surprised when I was able to capture photos. This is just one of many pleasant surprises from that evening, enjoy.
