Architecture Photography

Architecture Photography

Saturday 02 March
West Springfield - 10am - 2 Hours
Thomas Young
Architectural photography can be a great way of exploring and documenting a city, whether it's your home or on holiday. Its about capturing not only the design and accurate representation of a building, but to have the shots be aesthetically pleasing to the viewer's eye. An architectural photographer makes pictures, not takes pictures.

In this session, we will be covering how to better understand Architecture photography and we'll be looking at ways to take some impressive shots and the camera settings to use.

Nature Photography Meetup

Nature Photography Meetup

Saturday 16 March
Easthampton - 9am - 2 Hours
Thomas Young
Join this session for tips on how to use your camera settings to creatively capture nature in a visually interesting way. We will be looking at composition, focus, and colour.

Many professional offices and places of business have large prints gracing their wall space of things such as fields of flowers, a butterfly perched on a leaf, and a single dew drop on a rose petal. These beautiful images are all around us in nature. It just takes that special "eye" to not only see it but to capture it in a way that will turn that simple little piece of nature into a beautiful piece of art. We will learn how to use different angles, light and shadows, and settings to make subjects pop.

Despite the rain, which nobody could control, I totally enjoyed the event. I was able to learn from Thomas and get some images that I normally would not have gotten. I'm already looking forward to attending another one.

What a special place to be. The leaves were falling like rain everywhere trickling through the canyon with the light of the sun peaking through and giving its life. It was a crisp fall day. You could smell the mist and autumn leaves in the forest. The water gave its song to break the silence of the thick air.

I was taking fall photos of my nephews for my brother and I asked the boys to throw leaves in the air. The joy on my youngest nephews face was priceless and I had to capture the moment.

You can?t tell in this photo, but this Chinese Mantis was missing an arm, had a busted eye, and its wings were mangled. And yet, I watched it successfully catch and eat a rather large bumble bee. It was incredibly impressive! ISO 200, f10, 1/125

I have been wanting to try taking pictures with bubbles for years and I finally had the opportunity. It was a cold, non windy morning and I was up early so I gave it a go. It took a few tries but I finally caught a good shot with a light behind it. After I had posted this, a friend pointed out that it looked like a heart in the center.

First off, I have to say that I am not a "Birder". But I love challenging my photographic skills and abilities. The American Kestrel is not a big bird, and it is fast. So even when you know its takeoff is imminent, it is still hard to get a nice clear photo of the bird. This particular image was shot with a Canon R6 camera, with the RF100-500mm f/4.5-7.1 L IS USM lens at 1/5000 sec, f/7.1 and ISO 4000. I used the animal eye-tracking feature of this mirrorless full frame camera, and was very plea

I had shot the sunrise at Horseshoe Bend the same morning and was hoping for a blazing sunset at this location after talking to the other photographers present at sunrise. Even with some clouds, we were not so fortunate and when the sunlight was casting on the water I switched to black and white mentality and was able to capture this photo. You can just see the setting sun in the upper right corner for the photo.

I was on a leisurely family walk going towards Nene Valley Railway in Wansford when serendipity struck, and I found myself in the perfect spot to capture a captivating moment. The sight of a steam train preparing to depart from the station sparked a rush of excitement and nostalgia. The timeless allure of steam trains and the bustling atmosphere of the railway added a touch of history and charm to my photography experience.

It was a cloudy day and my cat was up in the tree. he had always had very deep blue, but with all the defused light from the clouds and the contrast from the tree bark, It sent me running for my camera.I shot it on a Nikon D5600, with a 70 - 200mm lens, on January 25, 2024.I shot it raw while in manual mode, the aperture was 4.1, the iso 100, and the shutter speed was 1 over 700.

This one took a bit of planning to catch the Milky Way in the place I wanted, the Weather, Moon, and Milky Way core all had to be right and as you might guess it took a few seasons for it to come together, every time it was a walk in the dark over the sand dunes from Pennard to get to the right spot on the cliff edge, I'm a little picky when it comes to star trails and although there are certain formulas for shutter speed to "visibly" limit star trails I'd rather have none, so I dragged my Star
